How To Build A Multi-Step Event Registration Form?
Step 1: Activate and Install Bit Form
At first, you need to download and activate the Bit Form plugin. Then, go to your Bit Form dashboard on WordPress.
Now, click on “Create Form”.
Step 2: Add Fields on First Step
As I am building a multi-step form, I will be using “steps” to add fields. Well, you can drag any of the fields in the first step to create the form. But make sure the fields are related to the event.
I have dragged a “text” field here. Well, Bit Form features 40+ drag-and-drop fields in its builder. But if you want to make the form customized based on your needs, you can drag the text field and change its label.
Here, I have changed the text to “Full Name”.
Here, I have added the following fields: Full Name, Email, Phone Number, Company, and Job Title.
Step 3: Add Fields On the Second Step
In the second step, I have used a dropdown field that goes as follows –
Dietary options
Are you open to marketing?
How did you find out about us?
You can change the label of the dropdown field in the label field on field settings. Further, I have also added a “GDPR Compliance Box” for customers’ consent in regards to receiving event-related emails.
Step 4: Design The Form
Now, it’s time to make the multi-step form design. You can click on the “elements & layers” tab to style the form according to your preference.
Here, you can use the “theme quick tweaks” to change the form’s background, accent, font color, border, and more. Besides, you can style individual elements of your form fields to give the form a unique look. Here, I have changed the form’s accent and given a white background for a professional look.
Step 5: Update and Publish The Form
Now, the form is completed. Next, you need to click on “update” and publish the form.
Step 6: Add The Shortcode
After clicking on publish, you will get a shortcode. You need to copy this shortcode.
Step 7: Update The Form and Preview It
Now, go to the WordPress post section and add the shortcode using the Gutenberg block option. Next, publish the form and view the post.
Here, you can see that the form is completed. This is the first step of the form.
Now, this is the second step of the form. Once you complete the first step, you need to click on the next step. Then, you will be moved to the next step. Further, you need to fill out the form and submit it.
You can also add payment fields to take registration payments by using Bit Form payment fields. Bit Form supports PayPal, Stripe, Razorpay, and Mollie as the payment gateway. So you can easily create WordPress event registration form with payment.
Recommendations For Creating a Multi-Step Event Registration Form
The multi-step form should have relevant fields that don’t bore the audience. Besides, you should not add too many fields for each step. It can increase the cognitive load of potential attendees. To make form building easier for you, I have shared some recommendations for building a multi-step event registration form below:
Use Familiar Titles
You must use familiar titles so that potential attendees understand these labels easily. But sometimes, people use unfamiliar titles to make the form unique. This makes the form look unprofessional, and potential attendees may not even understand these terms easily.
That’s why you should always use commonly used words in labels so that potential attendees don’t have any issues when they fill out the form.
Add Relevant Questions
You should include only relevant questions or fields in the form so that the form looks meaningful. Adding unnecessary fields will only bore the potential attendees and make them leave your website. Besides, you must ensure that the fields you add connect your business with them. It increases the chance of turning them into conversions.
Add Strong CTA
You should keep clear and strong call to actions for your event registration form. This can create strong urgency in the potential attendees’ minds. Besides, it also makes it clear for potential attendees to understand what will happen after they submit the form. As a result, it will increase the number of attendees at your business event.
Test The Form
Once you have created the multi-step event registration form, you must test the form properly to check if it is working or not. This ensures that potential attendees can fill out the form without any conflicts. Besides, you can also fix any existing mistakes after testing the form properly.
