Set up Google Tag Manager & Google Analytics stats on your website.

Setup Bit Assist Widget

1. First, add one or multiple channels to your website using Bit Assist.

2. Go to the settings, scroll down the page, and enable the Google Analytics functionality.

Setup Google Tag Manager

1. Now, go to your Google Tag Manager account. If you don’t already have one, you can create a new account. Then click “Click here to create a container“.

2. Now, provide a name for the container, choose “web” as the target platform, and proceed by clicking on the “Create” option

3. A window will appear displaying the header and footer code. Please copy the “Header Code” and navigate to your site’s admin panel. Paste the copied code into the “Header Section“, and if preferred, you can utilize a third-party plugin to do so. Then click on “Ok

Create a Trigger

  1. After that, navigate to the “Triggers” section, click on “New” and provide a name for the trigger configuration. Finally, click on the newly created trigger configuration.

  1. Scroll further down and select the trigger type labeled “Custom Event” within the “Other” section. For the Event name, specify “bitAssistChannel” ensuring it matches exactly. Opt for “All Custom Events” as the trigger activation condition, and then finalize the process by clicking the “Save” button.

  1. To view the preview, please click on the “Preview” button.
  1. Please enter your website’s URL and then click “Connect.”

  1. Click on the Bit Assist Widget, then click on a channel, which in this instance “WooCommerce” or “YouTube“. On the left side, you will see a received response labeled “bitAssistChannel.” Then, proceed by clicking on “Finish” and subsequently clicking on “Continue.”

Create a Tag

  1. Return to Google Tag Manager and navigate to the “Tags” section.

  1. Generate a fresh tag by assigning a name to it, and then access the tag configuration. From there, opt for “Google Analytics“. Keep in mind that you must create a Google Analytics account before proceeding. Afterward, select “Google Analytics GA4 Event.”

  1. Here, provide a name, enter your Measurement ID, and specify the Event name. Afterward, click the “Create tag” button. Set the tag name, select “Google tag” as the Tag type, use the same Tag ID as the Measurement ID, set the firing triggers to “Initialization – All pages,” and then save your settings.

  1. First, copy the Measurement ID. Then, delete the Measurement ID, and subsequently paste it once more. Now, navigate to the Triggering section. Select the custom event, which in this instance is “Bit Assist.” Finally, save your selection by clicking on the “Save” button.

  1. Click the “Submit” button, then provide a version name and proceed to “Publish“.

14. Navigate to Google Analytics, then proceed to the “Reports” section, and from there, access the “Realtime“. Afterward, scroll down to verify the count of users within the last 30 minutes, which should be zero. Continue by examining the event count categorized by event name.

15. Go to your website, click on the Bit Assist Widget, then click on a channel, which in this instance “WooCommerce” or “YouTube“. Again go to “Google Analytics” and check users within the last 30 minutes, which should be one. Continue by examining the event count categorized by event name.
